本片以台灣蘭嶼達悟族著名文學家夏曼・藍波安的生命歷程與同名自傳體小說《大海浮夢》為核心。全片跨越台灣蘭嶼與南太平洋島嶼，透過鏡頭凝視這位「以海為墨」的原住民作家如何划著拼板舟航向浩瀚大洋。
影片深刻記錄了他重返母體文化的尋根追尋，對島嶼生態與核廢料議題的抗爭，以及在現代文明與南島海洋傳統的夾縫中，用文字與身體實踐所譜寫的海洋生命史詩。
Centering on the life and eponymous autobiographical work of renowned Tao indigenous writer Syaman Rapongan from Orchid Island, Lanyu, Taiwan, The Ocean Dreams spans across Taiwan and the South Pacific. The documentary follows the author, who writes with the sea as his ink, as he navigates the vast ocean in a traditional tatala boat.
It offers a profound exploration of his journey back to ancestral roots, his resistance against environmental injustice and nuclear waste on his home island, and his lifelong quest to preserve Austronesian maritime heritage in the face of modern encroachment.

本片改編並構思自夏曼・藍波安獲獎文學名著《大海浮夢》。劇本結構打破單純的傳記紀錄形式，將作家的散文詩意旁白與太平洋實地航行影像交織，串聯起達悟族古老神話、海洋哲學、父子記憶與當代原住民族權益抗爭，呈現出一場文學與影像高度融合的詩意民族誌。
Adapted and inspired by Syaman Rapongan’s acclaimed literary work The Ocean Dreams, the narrative transcends conventional biographical documentary structures. It weaves the author’s poetic reflections with immersive ocean voyages across the Pacific, juxtaposing ancient Tao mythology, maritime philosophy, filial memory, and contemporary indigenous activism into a cinematic visual ethnography.

羅英馳，台灣紀錄片導演、獨立影像工作者。長期深耕台灣原住民族文化、海洋生態及在地社會人文議題。其影像風格沉穩內斂，善於以平視且具詩意的長鏡頭，凝視人與自然環境之間的深層連結。作品多次在國內外人權、環境與民族誌影展中放映。
Lo Ying-chi is a Taiwanese documentary filmmaker and independent visual artist whose work focuses on indigenous heritage, maritime ecology, and contemporary socio-cultural landscapes in Taiwan. Known for his contemplative pacing and poetic visual storytelling, Lo captures the intricate relationships between human existence and the natural environment. His works have been widely showcased across ethnography, human rights, and environmental film circuits.
